Travel over the last couple of years has been challenging – to say the least.

Like it has for so many, it inspired us to explore what the Maritimes has to offer to our CAA Members, and we thought it was important to share it with you.

Melissa Churchill, a Travel Advisor at the CAA Dartmouth branch, packed up the CAA Atlantic Tesla and hit the road.

“The region has so much to see and experience,” she said. “It was a joy to get out there and be reminded of how beautiful Atlantic Canada is.”

As a 20-year employee of CAA Atlantic, Churchill has been on dozens of fabulous trips around the world.

“People had been anxious to get out and go far away,” she said. “Working in the travel industry, I’m so looking forward to that, but I’m also content with what we’re able to explore in the region.

“This road trip cemented that; there’s so much to see here,” she said.

Churchill grew up in Ontario, but moved to Nova Scotia for university and never looked back. She said this is her home now. She also intends to head to Newfoundland next summer – whether it’s in the CAA Tesla, or in her own EV remains to be seen. She said she wished she had more time to explore Atlantic Canada, and occasionally felt rushed. Her advice to not adhere to too strict of schedule and to have an “open mind.”

“Be flexible and open to seeing and doing new things,” she said. “Sometimes the best travel experiences happen outside of the tour guides.”
